UNICERA BREAKS A NEW RECORD WITH 60 THOUSAND 841 VISITORS IN ITS 23RD YEAR
UNICERA - 23rd International Ceramic, Bathroom, Kitchen Fair, the gate of Turkish ceramic sector opening to the world, breaks a new record at its last meeting. The fair achieves a 14 percent growth when compared with the last year with 60 thousand 841 visitors from 71 different countries. The foreign visitor number of the fair also achieves a 23 percent increase.
UNICERA - 23rd International Ceramic, Bathroom and Kitchen Fair prepared by the corporation of TÜYAP Fairs and Exhibitions Organization Inc., Turkish Ceramics Federation and TİMDER and opened by Mustafa Demir, the Minister of Public Works and Settlement, breaks a new record by overtaking the impressive performance of the previous year. 60 thousand 841 visitors from 71 different countries visited the fair this year. UNICERA reveals its international nature once again with 3 thousand 530 foreign visitors. 22nd UNICERA Fair organized previous year hosted a total of 53 thousand 394 visitors including 2 thousand 883 foreign visitors from 69 different countries. Having received a 14 percent growth generally and a 23 increase in terms of foreign visitors’ attendance compared to 2010, UNICERA proves that it is one of the top 2 fairs of Europe.
Effective Promotion and New Markets
UNICERA plays an important role for ensuring Turkish ceramic to become a major power in the world and creates new markets for enabling the sector to compete with the rest of the world for 23 years. TÜYAP continues with the face-to-face promotion activities within the country and abroad, one of the basic elements for the success of the fair previous year, in 2011. As a result, UNICERA - 23rd International Ceramic, Bathroom and Kitchen Fair hosted important purchasers from abroad and architects, interior architects, industrial designers, construction and contraction groups, contractors and construction markets within the country.

9th Honorary Awards for Ceramic are Awarded
UNICERA - 23rd International Ceramic, Bathroom and Kitchen Fair hosted a number of events enabling it to make a distinguished name for itself. ‘Honorary Awards for Ceramic’ turned into a tradition by the Turkish Ceramic Federation and organized for the 9th time are awarded to the winners on the opening day of the fair. Aydın Eşer receives TİMDER award, Prof. Dr. Hamiye Çolakoğlu the award given by the Turkish Ceramic Association, Prof. Dr. Güven Önal the SERHAM award, Faruk Aksoy the SEREF award, Nihat Yıldırım the SERSA award, Suat Karaveli the SERKAP award and Germiyan Saatçioğlu the award given by the Turkish Ceramic Federation.
Election of Future Architects and Designers at TÜYAP
The premiere for the “Çizgiden Gerçeğe” (From a Line to the Reality) film prepared with the cooperation of TÜYAP and Konsept Projeler is organized at UNICERA Fair. The film showing the process for the projects of famous architects starting from the idea to the reality receives appreciation from the audience.
The “Gerçekten Çizgiye” (From Reality to a Line) is organized under the moderation of Ece Ceylan Baba and the participation of the students at the faculties of industrial design, architecture and ceramic of the leading universities of Turkey. Attending UNICERA, one of the most important ceramic fairs of the world, as the guest of TÜYAP, the students have the chance to watch the process regarding the products and projects for turning into a reality starting from its idea stage at the workshops they attend with famous designers and architects. The students attend the live performances of Designer and Artist Ali Herischi, a Lecturer at Gazi University and Industrial Designer Aslı Kutluay at the workshop organized on the second day of the fair. After the ‘sink’ design of Ali Herischi and the performance of Aslı Kutluay including the dressing of sculptures with wall papers, students transferred their own designs to lines. The jury comprised of Metin Hepgüler, Mehpare Evrenol, Ece Ceylan Baba, Abdullah Burnaz and Necibe Darcan chooses the best student projects of the competition. The work by Ebru Köse studying at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University is chosen as the best student Project at the competition where 45 student projects compete. Elif Koşar studying at Department of Glass Design at Mimar Sinan University becomes the second and Melda Kesen studying at Fine Arts Faculty of Mimar Sinan University the third.
‘The Bathing Culture of Ottomans’ Turkish Bath Exhibition
The exhibition organized with the cooperation of Adell Armatür and TÜYAP draws intense interest from the visitors. Historical faucets, water-cans, embroidered cloths, waistcloths, soaps bearing writings in Ottoman, Turkish bath objects, towels and a number of historical documents within the scope of the exhibition. The ‘Bathing Culture of Ottomans’ Turkish Bath Exhibition lays the foundation of ‘Water and Turkish Bath Museum’ planned to be established in Istanbul.
Sıtkı Olçar - the World-Renowned Vitrified Tile Master - is Memorialized at UNICERA
Sıtkı Olçar, who passed away last year and is the world-renowned vitrified tile master of our country, is memorialized with his works at UNICERA in an allocated special area. Master Sıtkı fed his creativeness with the marks of the history in his vitrified tile works bearing ancient patterns and forms. Only the works bearing the signature as ‘Sıtkı’ are exhibited at the fair. ‘Sıtkı Olçar Memorial Platform’ attracts deep interest from the visitors.
12th National Architecture Fair Draws Great Interest
The collection of ‘National Architecture Exhibition and Awards’ organized twice a year by TMMOB Chamber of Architects and including 160 works and 218 boards are offered to the interest visitors during the fair. The exhibition draws great interest from architecture, interior architects and industrial designers and students at faculties of architecture and interior architecture visit the fair with great interest.
Clay Art Attracts Attention
Member students of TETÖP (Turkish Platform for Industrial Design Students) create bathroom materials from clay in the exhibition area on the last day of the UNICERA Fair. Students display their creativeness with the workshop attracting the attention of visitors.

UNICERA has proven its successful representation of its mission to ‘to Organize the Best Fair on the Soils from Where Ceramic is born’ once more to the sector, its competitors, attendants and visitors with its performance in its 23rd year and its determined development. Giving start to the marketing and promotion works for UNICERA to be organized in 2012, TÜYAP aims to undertake itself by continuing the promotion and publicity activities carried out in Europe, the Balkans, the Middle East, the North Africa, Russia, Caspian and Black Sea Basins.
