31st IRU World Congress Fair LOGIST - Road Transportation, Intermodal Systems, Loading and Unloading, Handling, Storage and Logistics Industry Fair, has been organised by Tüyap Fairs and Exhibitions Inc. under the coordination of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey and with the support of UND ( International Transporters Association) and TOFED simultaneously with the 31st IRU (International Road Transport Union) at the İstanbul Lütfi Kırdar International Convention and Exhibition Center between May 14-16, 2008.
LOGIST has enabled the Turkish logistics sector to come together with IRU member companies, government delegations and public and private sector representatives visiting Istanbul for the congress, seizing new business opportunities and witnessing latest developments in the sector. It has accelerated the growth of the sector, helping Turkey become a point of attraction for the logistics sector over an expansive geographical area reaching from Europe to China.
Having one of the largest road transportation fleets of Europe, Turkey has brought leaders of the sector together for the congress and fair. As road transportation maintains its importance in ever-growing global trade, developments and changes in the sector have been closely analysed at LOGIST, while participants of the fair will had opportunities to meet professionals from the sector who will visit Turkey for the congress, and develop one-to-one relations.
Serving as the gateways to international trade, airports and seaports of Turkey gain activity with the latest privatisation efforts. Industrial investments in shipyards and shipbuilding, and the privatisation of seaports accelerated maritime transportation, while rapid developments in aviation have activated many new airfields in Turkey, helping develop air transport.
